Jim Jones persuaded over 900 of his temple people to commit suicide with a poisonous concoction of fruit punch laced with cyanide and other sedatives. Jones started People's Temple in an attempt to connect the unfortunate with God, but it ended up being the complete opposite.

With no end in sight, it is essential to research and interview these individuals so the world may grasp what can make today's modernized serial killer. Because all woman and men alike are capable to take the life of anyone they desire. So, in response, I have developed a paper discussing the necessities of having interviews with these serial killers including one of the United States most notorious serial killer, Edmund Kemper.

  Jim Jones was born May 13, 1931, in Crete, Indiana. Jones was a notorious cult leader and a self-proclaimed messiah of the Peoples Temple religion. He promised his followers if they followed him, he would take them to a utopia. On November 18,1978 which would then be known as the Jonestown Massacre. Jones manipulated over 900 men, woman, and children to their deaths in a mass suicide with Cyanide-laced punch. Inspiring the slang term “Don’t Drink the Kool-Aid”. With the very youngest not being able to take the concoction themselves, they were forced by either their parents or a soldier in Jones army. There was only 87 Peoples Temple members to have survived the traumatic ordeal. The Peoples Temple was a very devout religious organization. It’s even been called a cult, a cult is defined as misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.

The Infamous Mass Murderer: James Holmes

James Eagan Holmes was the man responsible for the 2012 Aurora, Colorado mass shooting that resulted in 12 people killed and 70 injured. Before the shooting he had no previous criminal record and what some people may consider a 'normal' childhood. It was a shock that someone who seemed like any typical individual would plot thoroughly such an attack on innocent civilians that led to him being sentenced to 12 life sentences without the possibility of parole. One of the most controversial topics that arose from this case was weather or not he was actually mentally ill and if it contributed to his actions. This topic is delved upon in my Paper, "James Holmes: The Definition of Insanity?"
